Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue
Height: 6'1"
Markings: He has a scar on his leg from getting cleated as a kid in a soccer game, small scars from shaving, scar on the back of his shoulder from getting hooked by a fish hook.
Overall Appearance: With blonde hair and blue eyes, Sander is very typically Scandinavian. Some might think of him as being quite good looking, but he prefers to not call judgement on something like that. For work, he tends for wear dress shirts and pants, though sometimes the coat and tie are omitted. Sander doesn't really have a distinctive "style" he prefers. He'll dress as his job requires him to dress and given the closeness of the academy setting, will likely try to dress somewhat nicely all the time. For riding, he does have breeches and boots and a nice GPA helmet. His favorite color is blue and owns quite a few blue shirts of varying shades.

Likes: Teaching, Animals, History, Current Events, Family
Dislikes: Laziness, grading, fiascoes, missing class, student truancy
Fears: Getting injured, death
Hopes: Teach college students, Get married and have a family, move back to Norway
Secrets: He collects coins from around the world and has a few drawers filled with coins from over 50 countries
Personality: Sander is generally a rather amiable person. Even if a little awkward at large parties, he's good-natured and pleasant to be around. He has a huge amount of patience for people and animals. When it comes to teaching, he sometimes seems strict, but nothing is without its purpose. He's a strict believer in punctuality and his policies often reflect that. He also believes in teaching youth to be the next world leaders and views history as a way for people to learn from their mistakes so the same mistakes aren't made again. Sander also really likes habit and routine and has close to regimented his life so that he always knows what's going to happen next, though he can be flexible if need be. However, his opinion of student social events isn't very high and has no qualms with assigning some homework over breaks or dances, though to make up for it, lets the students work on it in class and leave only what isn't finished as homework. Even though his heart is in higher education, he certainly enjoys teaching at the academy and probably won't change jobs any time soon. Younger students aren't quite so unappealing. Expect Aleksander to be the teacher who pushes his students hard, but will support them all the way through and make sure they leave his class with a sense of accomplishment.

History: Aleksander was born in Bergen, Norway, but emigrated to Minnesota when he was twelve. He was the middle child and often left to his own devices. His older brother was always pushed to do well in school and set an example for his siblings while his younger sister was doted on like a perfect angel. He played football for several years, though in one of his games, another player accidentally stepped on Sander's leg when Sander tripped and fell in a particularly muddy section of the field. He also spent a lot of time fishing and managed to get his brother's fish hook embedded in his shoulder when they were fishing off the family's boat one summer. Surgery was needed to get it out. Eventually, Aleks' father was offered a position in the United States and he took it, not realizing that the job was not as an expat. The move was quite sudden for everyone and Sander struggled to really fit in with his new home. While his English was good, he still wasn't nearly as fluent as his classmates and was inhibited for a few years until he was even more proficient at speaking English. It was then that his younger sister, Ingrid, started showing interest in horses and wanted to take lessons. Unable to pay for them, Ingrid worked at the barn to pay off most of the lesson costs.
Eventually, Henrik went off to law school at the top of his class and valedictorian. When Sander learned how to drive, he was tasked with driving his sister around and found himself a job doing retail to make a bit of money. His mother managed to find work as an accountant. Even though Sander never caught the "horse bug" ("hest infeksjon" as he called it) like his sister, there was a certain amount of pleasure to be found in helping groom horses and clean tack. Eventually, he went off to college and wanted to major in education. His original goal was to teach college and university level students and even went as far as getting his Ph.D. However, despite being more than qualified, finding a job was incredibly difficult. The first job he was able to get was teaching at Stone Gait Academy. Despite the hassle of dropping his permanent residence visa in the US, retaining his citizenship to Norway, and switching to a visa in Canada, Sander took the job. Shortly after taking the job, Ingrid called him about taking in a retired dressage star one of her friends owned. Sander accepted and within half a year of moving to Canada, found himself having to learn how to ride.
Lessons were easy to come by, but looking after a horse as well as spending time grading papers meant several long nights initially. After the first year, things leveled out quite a bit and in his third year of teaching at SGA, he's worked out a good schedule to balance his priorities as a teacher with his horse.
